Great Place to Work and FORTUNE have ranked Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare (MLH) as one of the 2018 Best Workplaces for Women. This is the fourth year Methodist has made the list. Rankings reward companies in which women have equally great experiences as their colleagues and have strong representation of women in the workforce and leadership positions. MLH took the No. 67 spot on the list.
“This is a beautiful reflection of our Power of One Culture, our Values and our 100 year heritage and those who paved the way,” Carol Ross-Spang, chief human resources officer for Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare.
The majority of the MLH workforce is women – 83 percent – and Ross-Spang says the organization sets up its culture to meet people at whatever stage in life they are. MLH offers full-time, part-time and supplemental positions, various shifts, weekends, and other schedules to help our Associates find the right work/life balance.
The Best Workplaces for Women stand out for creating great workplaces for all employees, regardless of gender or other personal characteristics. Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare has a strong leadership development track. Through September 2018, 80 percent of its open leadership positions have been filled by internal candidates, and of those internal selections, over 70 percent were women.
The ranking is based on anonymous survey feedback representing more than 4.5 million US employees from Great Place to Work-Certified companies. Great Place to Work, a global people analytics and consulting firm, analyzed women and men’s responses to over 60 different metrics measuring the extent to which their organizations create a Great Place to Work For All™ -- for example, whether people trust each other and employees are able to reach their full human potential, no matter who they are or what they do – among other factors.
“This year, we pledged to close the employee experience gender gap by 2020, and these winning organizations are leading the way in achieving this mission, proving that all companies, regardless of their industry, size, or complexity, can be great workplaces for women,” said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. “Empowering women in the workplace isn’t just the right thing to do – it’s simply good business. Organizations can create their own equitable cultures by learning from the companies on this list, who get women’s buy-in of the mission by inspiring them to innovate and drive the company forward.”
The Best Workplaces for Women list is one of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work and FORTUNE based on employee feedback from Great Place to Work-Certified™ organizations. For the past two years, Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare has earned a spot on the Great Place to Work and FORTUNE list of 100 Best Companies to Work For, and has also been recognized as a Best Workplace in Healthcare & Biopharma, for Women and for Diversity.
